ARTIST STATEMENT

I enjoy the challenge of figurative painting often choosing to work from vintage family photos giving them new life through color and composition. I manipulate facial expression and body language to convey emotional dept. I want to show the viewer who they are.

I use Liquitex and Winsor Newton Acrylic Paints on a variety of surfaces from stretched canvas to salvaged repurposed wood.

Art to me has always been magical. Mentally visualizing an image and then bringing it into the world continually amazes me. I choose vivid interesting subjects that reflect goodness and positivity in the world. Every painting has a story.

Artist who inspired me were first children book illustrators. Among them my favorites were Wesley Dennis and Kit Williams.
